Humrahi Foundation is a registered public charitable trust based in Siliguri, West Bengal. It started in 2020, when a family took a van and ration bags to households that had lost their income overnight, and was formally registered as a trust on 12 May 2023. Its first programme, daily food distribution, ran for 1,500 consecutive days before the foundation closed it in early 2026 and moved to work with a longer horizon: adopting underserved schools, running free health camps and blood donation drives, cleaning up public spaces, and offering free certified employability courses — twelve modules including an introduction to AI — as a partner institute of the Skills Development Network, supported by the Wadhwani Foundation. Humrahi also responds to disasters in the region, most recently the 2026 floods in Assam and Nepal. It holds 12A, 80G, CSR-1 and NGO Darpan registrations, and publishes its registrations and field reports in full.

We can arrange site visits in and around Siliguri, put you in touch with beneficiaries who have agreed to speak, and share unredacted registration documents for due diligence. Beneficiary introductions need a few days' notice, because we ask each person first.

We do not hold FCRA registration, so Humrahi cannot legally accept foreign contributions. Audited financials for FY2025-26 are not yet published; the audit is in progress and this page will say so when it lands.

Everything here is ours and free to use in coverage of Humrahi. Credit as Humrahi Foundation. Please do not recolour, stretch or rebuild the logo — if you need a variant that is not here, ask and we will make it.
Logo files
Minimum reproduction width is 24 mm in print and 120 px on screen. Keep clear space equal to the height of the wordmark's cap-height on all four sides. The brushstroke leaf is always Sindoor Red. Never place the transparent version on a dark ground — use the reverse file.
Colours
Typefaces: Lora for headlines, Inter for everything else. Both are open-licence and free to install.
Photographs
These are first-party frames from our August 2026 field visit to Mautgaon, Sivasagar, in flood-hit Assam. Click to open the full-size file. Higher-resolution originals and additional frames are available on request.
Two limits worth knowing. Consent for these photographs was given verbally and by adults only, so we do not publish identifiable images of children and we withhold frames showing registration paperwork. And the satellite imagery on our Nepal page is not ours — the before frame is Copernicus Sentinel-2 under CC BY 4.0 and carries a mandatory attribution line, the after frame is Landsat 9 / USGS and is public domain. Do not take either from this kit; go to the source.
What we can actually talk about
Three things we know first-hand and can put people, documents and photographs behind. If your angle is elsewhere, say so and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right source.
Why relief cannot be couriered into Nepal
Panitanki–Kakarbhitta is an international customs border. Parcels sent from India for the Bhotekoshi flood response do not simply cross it. We hit this directly and drove our own vehicle over on 31 August 2026 instead. The Nepal page carries the reasoning, the casualty figures with their disagreements, and an append-only revision log.
Ending a programme on purpose
Daily food distribution ran 1,500 consecutive days and we closed it in early 2026, because a daily handout had stopped being the thing the community needed. Nobody writes about the decision to stop. We will talk about how it was made and what it cost.
Free AI-era skilling in a tier-2 city

What we will not do
Pose for a photograph we did not earn, hand you a beneficiary who has not agreed to speak, or give you a number we cannot source. If something in our own reporting went wrong, we have already published it — see the Assam field report.
What we do not claim
Small organisations get quoted loosely, and the loose version outlives the correction. These are the specific claims we have seen attached to us, or that would be easy to assume, and which are not true. Please do not print any of them.
- We were not named in The Assam Tribune. Its 19 August 2026 report on the Sivasagar relief work refers to "three NGOs" and names none of them. We were there; we were not credited, and we do not claim the credit.
- The ~1,200 kg figure is not ours. That is the total for the whole APCB drive across Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, not Humrahi's contribution to it.
- We have no ground partner in Nepal and no photographs of our own from Nepal. Our convoy crossed on 31 August 2026; where it hands over, and to whom, was still being settled at the time of writing.
- Daily food distribution is not running. It ended at Day 1,500 in early 2026. Written in the present tense it is wrong, and it is the error we see most often.
- We are not "part of the Wadhwani Foundation." Humrahi is a partner institute of the Skills Development Network, which the Wadhwani Foundation supports. The distinction matters to both organisations.
- We hold no FCRA registration and cannot accept foreign contributions.
