Education is Humrahi Foundation's third branch of work, and it runs as two programmes. School Adoption keeps children in class now; the free skilling programme gets them ready for work after that. Neither is a visit. We keep turning up at both.
The gap we're trying to close
Around Siliguri, the education gap doesn't end at the school gate. Underserved schools need a steady adult presence, not a one-off donation. Even the students who make it through twelve years of schooling often reach their first interview unready, because school grades them on subjects and nobody ever grades them on how they speak to a stranger across a desk. Humrahi Foundation works to fill both ends of that gap under one education branch: School Adoption for the classroom years, and free skilling for the first steps into work.
Not a visit. A presence.
When Humrahi Foundation adopts a school in an underserved part of Siliguri, it isn't a single visit or a photo-op donation. The school is adopted outright, given resources, programmes and a steady Humrahi presence, year after year. That steady presence has added up to 5,000+ students supported so far, across drawing competitions, Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, and the everyday upkeep that keeps a classroom running.

School grades the subject. The interview grades everything else.
So we run the part nobody teaches. Humrahi is a partner institute of the Skills Development Network, supported by the Wadhwani Foundation, and the network's employability programme reaches Siliguri through us. Twelve modules, free, on a phone, in Bangla if that is the language you think in.
An introduction to artificial intelligence is one of those twelve, because the jobs these students are walking towards already have it in the room. This is the same curriculum delivered through colleges and ITIs across India. Humrahi is the local end of it: we get students registered, and a person from their own town stays with them until they finish.

What a student actually walks away with
Twelve modules, AI included
Speaking and listening, writing, self-presentation, self-management, teamwork, problem solving, professionalism, customer skills, workplace tools, online safety, and an introduction to artificial intelligence. Self-paced, so it survives a job or an exam season.
In Bangla, on a phone
Bangla, English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Odia. The whole programme runs in a phone browser, so there is no laptop to borrow, no cyber café, and no bus fare to a centre.
A certificate and a Skill Scorecard
A micro-certificate for every module finished, a programme certificate at the end, and a Skill Scorecard that tells an employer what the student can actually do. Theirs permanently, and free.
My Interview Coach
An AI coach that asks real questions for the role they want, listens to the spoken answer and says what to fix. Ten rehearsals before the interview that counts, in Bangla if they prefer.
How a student gets in
- Register free, through HumrahiName, mobile, email. Under a minute, no fee at any stage, and the seat is counted with us rather than lost in a national form.
- Learn, with somebody checking inWhen a module stalls, a Humrahi volunteer from the same town answers on WhatsApp in Bangla, Hindi or English. A person, not a bot, and not a call centre.
- Finish, and the doors openScore 70% or better and the certificates and the Skill Scorecard are issued, and the Job Connect employer portal opens. That part stays shut without them.
Humrahi earns nothing from an enrolment. Not a fee from the student, not a referral from the network. And nobody here will promise a job, because nobody honest can. What we promise is that a student walks into that interview ready, and that someone local stays with them until they get there.
Open from Class 9 upward: still in school, in college or ITI, out and job-hunting, or already working and stuck. Under 18s are welcome with a parent or guardian's consent.
The curriculum is national. The people who hand it over are local.
Humrahi did not write these courses, and we would rather say so than let anyone assume otherwise. It is the Wadhwani Foundation, not Humrahi, that has collaborated with NCERT and the Ministry of Education: its employability content features in NCERT Class IX textbooks and in the Ministry of Education's national syllabus, and it reaches students across India through the Skills Development Network. What Humrahi brings is the last mile. As an SDN partner institute in Siliguri we hold the seats, register the students, answer the WhatsApp messages, and make sure nobody around here is left figuring out a national programme alone.

My Career Advisor
My Career Advisor is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education, NCERT-PSSCIVE and the Wadhwani Foundation, built for students in grades 6–12. A few interactive aptitude questionnaires turn into personalised career guidance across 1,500+ job roles, and it's completely free.
Humrahi enrols students into it for free and sits with them while they work through it. For most of them it is the first time anyone has asked what they might actually want to do.
How you can help the education branch
Both programmes run on the same two things as everything else we do, hands and funds.
- Volunteer at a school or a skilling session. Presence is the only skill required. Start at get involved on our homepage.
- Give what keeps a classroom or a course running. A one-time or monthly gift funds resources at an adopted school and keeps the free skilling programme reaching everyone. Donations are eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G.
- Spread the word. Tell a student in Siliguri about free skilling, or a family about an adopted school nearby. Most of our volunteers first heard about Humrahi from a friend.
